Throughout the history of Bangladesh, its music has often been referred to as a diverse, rich, multilingual and versatile culture. But in recent times, there has been a significant rise in the number of Bangladeshi people who particularly seek quality music and entertainment. Moreover, the interesting fact is that this crowd includes people from all ages and backgrounds. Due to this gradual change in people’s taste and preference, the idea of a musical festival first came to life in 2012, Bengal Classical Music Festival which turned out to be a huge success. This phenomenal event, along with the current mindset and behavior of the Dhaka population are exactly what helped create a hype for yet another music festival – the “Jazz & Blues Festival Dhaka 2015”. Jazz and Blues – the two genres are considered to be the earliest forms of world music, which, the people of Bangladesh have waited a long time to experience, live.

Now, “Blues Communications Limited” is ready to showcase an event like no other in Bangladesh, as this will be the first ever jazz and blues concert festival in the country. ‘Grameen Phone’ will be recognized as the title sponsor for the event, but the festival will also be supported by other valued and reputed partners which include associated partner ‘Bengal Digital’, ‘Etihad Airways’ as the airlines partner, ‘Coca Cola’ for the beverages partner, ‘The Westin Hotel’ as the hospitality partner, ‘GP Music’ as the music partner. Starting from 05th November, it is going to be a 3-day festival that will end on 07th November, and the location will be the National Army Museum Ground, Dhaka. Keeping everyone’s busy work life in mind, the show time has been arranged to start from 0600pm onwards and end after midnight, so that most of the people can manage to be a part of this event. Overall, the entire event promises to deliver a classy and posh feel, as associated with the two music genres. The ambience will be similar to a fiesta as the show will be hosting both international and local musicians, tagged along with a variety of the city’s top notch restaurants and food joints – which include Nando’s, Lucknow, Gloria Jean’s Coffees, Sbarro, Watercress, Fool’s Diner, Platter, and many more. The international showstoppers include John McLaughlin & the 4th Dimension (UK), KingBaby (USA), Soulmate (India), Esdras Nogueira Quartet (Brazil), China Moses (France), Louis Banks (India), Shai Maestro Trio (USA), Vasundhara Vidalur (India). Local artists include renowned artist Ayub Bachchu and his blues band AB Blues, Imran Ahmed Quintet, Razef Khan (w/ French Partner), and Imran Rabbani’s band “The Blues Brothers”. With 4 performances bringing in a multitude of skills and art each night of the 3-day festival, the experience should simply be extraordinary, over the top, and one of a kind that will undoubtedly be the talk of the town.
